Information about adding money to your Hoot Loot account.

Use your Hootloot on campus and off.

The SCSU Hoot Loot ID Card can be used at various locations around campus, making every day purchases easier. Additionally, Hoot Loot is also accepted by a variety of off campus merchants.

Ways of Adding Funds

The SCSU Hoot Loot ID Card can function as an optional campus pre-paid debit card, allowing cardholders to make purchases at a variety of locations on and around Southern's campus. Depositing funds into a Hoot Loot account is simple, see below for options to add funds.

Credit Card or Electronic Check

Fill out and submit the form on this page. You will be forwarded to our secure processor so you can enter your account details. Once complete, your funds will appear on your hootloot account in 15-30 minutes.

Financial Aid Transfer

Just before the beginning of a term and for a couple weeks after, you can request to transfer excess financial aid to your hootloot account. A maximum of $800 may be requested to transfer to purchase books and supplies necessary for the semester at the university bookstore. If more than $800 is required, an additional maximum of $200 can be requested, but at least $400 of the $800 transferred MUST have been spent at the SCSU bookstore.

After purchasing books and supplies, funds still available on your hootloot account will remain on your account for any use you wish. Funds can NOT be withdrawn as cash.

Financial Aid funds can be refunded to your student account at any time by submitting an e-mail request to the University Card Office. Please allow 2-4 hours for processing (during normal office hours).

Cash

Cash can be added to your hootloot account at the Student Accounts office in Wintergreen hall, or any of the Card Value Centers (CVC) located around campus.

Student Accounts Office

You may deposit funds onto a Hoot Loot account in-person at the Student Accounts Office with cash, check or debit card.

Mail (Check or Money Order)

1. Make Check/Money Order payable to "SCSU".
2. Include your cardholder ID number and "hootloot" in the memo field.

I authorize Southern Connecticut State University to transfer the amount of excess financial aid indicated below from my student account to my Hoot Loot student ID card. I acknowledge that the transfer of excess financial aid will be held on my Hoot Loot student ID card for the purchase of textbooks and supplies necessary for the upcoming semester from the campus bookstore for the academic year.
I also understand that I may cancel this authorization at any time by submitting a Hoot Loot Refund Request, and that the cancellation is not retroactive as it takes effect on the date that the school receives it. If a student cancels an authorization to hold excess funds, the funds will be paid directly to the student or parent borrower as soon as possible, but no later than 14 days after the school receives the notice.
